11 Dhul-Hijjah · Day of Tashreeq (1 of 3)
Stoning the middle pillar
Wusta — pebble 4 of 7
Tap once after each pebble. Light haptic on count.
اللَّهُ أَكْبَر
Allāhu akbar.
Source: Bukhari 1751 (Ibn ʿUmar's practice). One takbir per pebble. Some pilgrims add a longer formula — both are reported.
On the days of Tashreeq (11-13 Dhul-Hijjah), the three pillars are stoned in order: Sughra (small) → Wusta (middle) → Kubra (the Aqabah pillar). Stoning out of order or before Dhuhr is invalid for these days.
All four schools agree on ordering. Hanafis are stricter about order than Hanbalis, but the practical answer is the same: in sequence.
Safety: avoid stoning between 10 AM and 4 PM on days 11-12. Saudi Civil Defense crowd flow data identifies these as the highest-pressure windows. Late afternoon or after Maghrib (where your Tasreeh slot allows) is safer and the rite is just as valid.
